Sunlight through tall trees onto a bright mossy forest floor
Trauma Therapy & EMDR in Fort Worth, North Richland Hills & Across Texas

The past is not finished with you yet.

Your body reacts before your mind catches up. The same old fear shows up in places it does not belong. Trauma therapy helps your mind and body begin to recognize what is happening now, at a pace you set, so the past does not have to keep running the present.

"I cannot recommend Callie Hall, LPC highly enough. She embodies exceptional professionalism and integrity, creating a safe and profoundly welcoming space for healing."

You are responding to something that never got resolved.

Trauma rarely announces itself. More often it shows up as a body that will not settle, reactions that feel too big for the moment, or a distance from the people you love that you never chose. These are some of the ways it shows up for the people who come to us.

  • ✓ Your body keeps the alarm on. Racing heart, shallow breath, poor sleep, a clenched jaw. Your system has a hard time believing it is safe to rest.
  • ✓ Small things land hard. Your reactions feel far bigger than what set them off, and then comes the shame about reacting.
  • ✓ You shut down to stay safe. Going flat, quiet, or checked out. It protected you once. Now it keeps the people you love at a distance.
  • ✓ Closeness feels dangerous. You want to be known and you brace for hurt at the same time. Intimacy and conflict set off the same alarm.
  • ✓ The memories arrive uninvited. Flashbacks, intrusive images, nightmares, or stretches of time you cannot account for.
  • ✓ Nothing specific happened. No single catastrophe. Just years of being unseen, unsafe, or unable to have needs.

If any of this sounds like you, you are in good company. These are responses to something real, and they are responses therapy can help you understand and work through.

Sunlight breaking through trees onto a quiet forest path

We build safety before we go deeper.

Trauma is about more than what happened. It is also about what your mind and body had to do to survive it. Those survival responses can stay switched on long after the danger has ended. Our work moves in three stages, at a pace you set, and deeper processing begins only when you and your therapist agree you are ready.

1

Steady the system

You learn to notice when your nervous system is activated and ways to help it settle: grounding, breath, containment, and mapping the triggers that set it off.

2

Process what is stuck

With a steadier base, you and your therapist work with the memories, emotions, and beliefs that continue to shape your responses, using approaches such as EMDR, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, or trauma-informed CBT. The goal is for the past to feel more like the past, rather than something your mind and body are still responding to as if it is happening now.

3

Reconnect and rebuild

Repairing close relationships, restoring a sense of worth, and learning to hold your own history without flinching from it. This is where the work turns toward the life you want to live now.

EMDR and our other trauma approaches.

Nothing is applied by default. Your therapist chooses with you, based on what you are carrying and what feels manageable.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a structured trauma therapy that helps clients process distressing memories while using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements. It does not require you to describe every detail of what happened. EMDR is one of the most studied treatments for PTSD.

Offered by Callie Hall, LPC

Callie, CheVaughn, John, Daneshia & others

Trauma rarely stays in the person who experienced it.

We are a couples practice at heart, and that shapes how we see trauma. For many couples who feel stuck, past experiences are shaping how one or both partners respond to closeness, conflict, and vulnerability. We see every day how unprocessed trauma shows up between partners: in the shutdowns, the overreactions, the distance that neither person wanted.

Most trauma work here is one on one, and relationships often shift as the individual changes. When it makes sense, a partner can join later, and the timing is something you and your therapist decide together. Emotionally Focused Therapy gives us the framework for both. You do not have to know which approach you need before you call. Helping you figure that out is part of the free consultation.

What people ask before they book.

Do I need a diagnosis of PTSD to start trauma therapy?
No. Many of the people we work with do not meet full criteria for PTSD and still carry experiences that were never processed. If your reactions feel bigger than the moment that set them off, that is reason enough to begin.
Do you treat PTSD?
Yes. Our therapists work with post-traumatic stress disorder as well as trauma responses that do not meet full criteria for a diagnosis. Treatment may include EMDR with Callie Hall, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, trauma-informed CBT, and DBT skills, depending on what fits you. Your therapist will talk with you about which approach makes sense after getting to know you.
What is EMDR, and who at The Love Seat provides it?
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, uses bilateral stimulation, most often guided eye movements, to help the brain reprocess memories that are stuck. It is one of the most studied treatments for PTSD. At The Love Seat, EMDR is provided by Callie Hall, LPC, at our Alliance office in Fort Worth and online across Texas.
Will I have to describe what happened in detail?
You will not be asked to share more detail than is clinically necessary for the approach you and your therapist choose. Trauma therapy here begins with safety and collaboration, and your therapist will talk with you about what to expect before deeper processing begins. EMDR in particular does not require a detailed verbal retelling of the entire trauma.
How long does trauma therapy take?
It varies. A single focused experience may need a shorter course of work. Complex or relational trauma, especially from childhood, often takes longer. Your therapist will talk openly with you about progress and what to expect as you go.
I tried therapy before and it did not help. What makes this different?
Trauma-focused and trauma-informed treatment goes beyond simply talking about what happened. Our clinicians draw from approaches designed to address trauma-related emotions, beliefs, relationships, and patterns, based on each client's needs and the therapist's training. A free consultation is a good way to find out if this is the right fit before you commit.
Can we do trauma work as a couple?
Often, yes. When one partner's trauma is driving the cycle between you, Emotionally Focused Therapy can address it inside the relationship. Your therapist will help you decide between individual work, couples work, or a combination.
Is online trauma therapy effective?
For many people, yes. We offer secure telehealth across Texas, and Callie can offer EMDR online when it is clinically appropriate. Your therapist will help you decide between online and in-person sessions.
Do you accept insurance for trauma therapy?
The Love Seat is a private-pay practice. We can provide superbills for clients who wish to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement, and you will receive a Good Faith Estimate before your first session. Insurance reimbursement varies by plan.
