The Love Seat Counseling and Life Coaching

Two people holding hands across a table by candlelight
Sex Therapy in Fort Worth, North Richland Hills & Across Texas

The conversation most couples avoid, in a room where it is safe to have it.

Desire that has drifted apart. Intimacy that faded somewhere along the way. Anxiety, pain, or past experiences that get in the way. Sex therapy gives you, or the two of you, a place to talk about it plainly, without shame, and find your way back to each other.

"Couples who are ready to do hard work for their relationship and want to see results are in the safest place working with Crys."

You love each other. This one part keeps getting harder to talk about.

Sex is one of the few things couples are expected to figure out entirely on their own, with no instruction and no one to ask. So when it gets complicated, most people go quiet. The silence is usually harder on the relationship than the problem itself.

  • ✓ One of you wants more, one of you wants less, and it has become a sore subject
  • ✓ Intimacy faded after pregnancy, postpartum changes, kids, a move, an illness, or a hard year, and it never quite came back
  • ✓ Sex feels like pressure, performance, or a chore instead of closeness
  • ✓ Pain, anxiety, or physical difficulty makes you avoid it altogether
  • ✓ Something from your past makes closeness feel unsafe
  • ✓ You have tried to bring it up and it turned into a fight, or into silence

If any of this sounds like you, you are in good company. These are some of the most common concerns we see, and they are concerns therapy can help you understand and work through.

Sex therapy is talk therapy.

It is a guided conversation with a therapist who is comfortable talking about sex and understands how intimacy connects with relationships, emotions, the body, past experiences, and life circumstances.

1

We start with your story

Your first session covers what brought you in, your relationship history, and how comfortable you are talking about sex. You set the pace.

2

We name what is underneath

Desire, avoidance, and anxiety can be shaped by what is happening in the relationship, in the body, or by past experiences. Understanding what is contributing helps take blame out of the room.

3

You practice at home

Between sessions, you try new ways of talking and connecting, in private, at whatever pace feels right. Sessions are where you talk about how it went.

4

Closeness can begin to return

As emotional and physical safety grow, closeness often becomes easier to build. The goal is to develop a shared language for intimacy and more confidence talking about sex together.

Sex and emotional safety are deeply connected.

Our therapists are trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, which means we look at your sex life the way we look at the rest of your relationship: as a place where each of you is reaching for closeness and protecting yourself from hurt. When one partner pulls away from sex and the other pushes for it, or when both go quiet, that is the same pattern that shows up in every other hard conversation. Changing that pattern around intimacy can create shifts in other parts of the relationship too.

We also bring the practical side: understanding desire and how it works, talking through what each of you wants and fears, and working with the physical realities of bodies, health, and life stages. Faith and values are welcome in the room whenever you want them there.

When pain, physical symptoms, hormonal changes, medication effects, or other health concerns may be contributing, your therapist may also encourage collaboration with your physician or another appropriate healthcare provider.

What people ask before they book.

Is sex therapy talk therapy?
Yes. Sex therapy is a guided conversation, in a regular therapy office or over secure video. Your therapist helps you understand what is happening, talk about it with your partner, and practice new ways of connecting at home, at your own pace.
Can I come on my own, or does my partner have to be there?
Either. Many people start on their own, especially when the concern feels personal or when a partner is hesitant. Couples work is available when you are both ready, and some people move between the two.
Will it be awkward?
It is normal to feel nervous before the first session. Our therapists are comfortable talking about sex plainly, warmly, and without judgment, and they will help set the pace so the conversation feels manageable.
What kinds of concerns do you work with?
Differences in desire, intimacy that has faded, anxiety or pressure around sex, pain or physical difficulty, the effects of past experiences or trauma, rebuilding intimacy after an affair, and changes after children, illness, or menopause. If it affects your sex life or your closeness, it belongs in the room.
Can we include our faith?
Yes. Several of our therapists offer faith-integrated counseling, and we welcome couples who want their values woven into the work. It is always your choice.
How long does sex therapy take?
The length of sex therapy varies depending on what brings you in, how long the concern has been present, if you are attending individually or as a couple, and what else may be contributing. Your therapist can give you a clearer sense of the recommended pace after getting to know you. Some couples choose a couples intensive when they want more concentrated time together.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy is treated as confidential and protected by applicable law and professional ethics, with limited exceptions required by law or related to safety. Your therapist will review confidentiality and how information is handled in individual and couples sessions when you begin.
Do you accept insurance for sex therapy?
Insurance coverage for couples therapy varies by plan. The Love Seat is a private-pay practice, and we can provide superbills for clients who wish to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Closeness is worth talking about.

Most couples wait years before they say any of this out loud. A free consultation is a small, private first step: a brief conversation about where you are and how we can help. Prefer we reach out? Leave your details and we will.
