You already know how to love each other. This is about learning how to stay close.

Every marriage hits seasons that test it: a first year that is harder than expected, a baby, a job loss, a parent getting sick, a disagreement about money that keeps coming back. The couples who get through those seasons well are the ones who learned, early, how to reach for each other when it gets hard. That is what premarital counseling is for, and it is something we are deeply passionate about.

  • ✓ Understand how each of you reacts under stress, before stress arrives
  • ✓ Have the money, sex, faith, and family conversations in a safe room, with a guide
  • ✓ Learn what your partner actually needs when they go quiet or get sharp
  • ✓ Talk through the expectations neither of you has said out loud yet
  • ✓ Carry forward the good from your families, and leave behind what you do not want to repeat
  • ✓ Start marriage knowing how to repair when conflict happens

Research suggests couples who complete premarital counseling report higher satisfaction in marriage and less conflict in the early years. The earlier you start, the more of that benefit you carry in.

Engaged

The wedding is planned, or being planned. You want to walk in as prepared for the marriage as you are for the day.

Not sure you are ready

You love your partner and wonder if you are both on the same page about the future. Premarital counseling is exactly for this moment.

Newly married

The first year surprised you. That is normal, and it is a good time to build the habits you will keep for decades.

Remarrying or blending families

Children, co-parents, finances across households, and the lessons from before. All of it belongs in the room.

Four things every couple walks away with.

Grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy and attachment science, our premarital counseling (some couples call it pre-marital counseling or marriage preparation) follows a clear path. Here is what it gives you.

1

Understand each other deeply

Explore your attachment styles, communication patterns, and emotional needs before they become sources of conflict in marriage.

2

Navigate the big topics

Finances, family expectations, parenting, faith, and intimacy. We help you talk through the things most couples avoid until they become problems.

3

Build a shared vision

Walk into your marriage with a clear, agreed-upon picture of the life you are building together, and the tools to keep building it.

4

Start strong, stay strong

Leave with a shared language for the hard moments, so the first rough season does not catch either of you off guard.

The conversations that shape a marriage.

We help the two of you understand how you each reach for connection, how you each protect yourselves when you feel hurt, and how to turn toward each other in those moments. Then we bring that understanding to the topics every couple has to face.

Sessions are shaped around your relationship and the two of you. Couples who want their faith woven through the work can choose a therapist who offers faith-integrated premarital counseling.

What engaged couples ask before they book.

We are not having problems. Do we still need premarital counseling?
That is the best time to do it. Premarital counseling is for couples who want to understand each other's patterns, talk through the big topics before they become arguments, and start marriage with tools most couples only learn after years of friction.
How many sessions does premarital counseling take?
Many couples complete premarital counseling in 6 to 10 sessions, meeting weekly or every other week. Some couples choose to continue longer, depending on what comes up and how deep they want to go. Couples with a tight timeline before the wedding can cover the core ground in a premarital intensive over one to three days.
When is the best time to start?
Ideally six to twelve months before the wedding, which gives you room to work through the material without the pressure of an imminent ceremony. That said, we work with couples at every stage, including couples who are not engaged yet, couples a few weeks out, and couples who are already married.
What if my partner is hesitant?
Very common, especially with premarital counseling, where one partner may wonder if there is a problem to fix. There is not. The free consultation helps both of you understand what sessions actually look like, and most hesitant partners leave that first call feeling glad they came.
Can we include our faith?
Yes. Several of our therapists offer faith-integrated premarital counseling, and we welcome couples who want their Christian faith or spiritual values woven into the work. It is always your choice, never assumed.
What if one of us has been married before?
Remarriages and blended families come with their own questions: co-parenting, step-parenting, finances across households, and the lessons each of you carries from before. We address all of it directly.
Do you accept insurance for premarital counseling?
Premarital counseling is generally not covered by insurance. We offer competitive private-pay rates and can provide superbills for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Can we do premarital counseling online?
Yes. We offer secure telehealth sessions for couples anywhere in Texas, as well as in-person sessions at our Fort Worth Alliance and North Richland Hills offices.

Two offices. One mission.
