Christian Counseling in Fort Worth, North Richland Hills & Across Texas

Licensed therapy, with your faith in the room.

Christian counseling at The Love Seat pairs licensed, evidence-based therapy with the faith that shapes your life. You decide how much of it comes into the room: scripture and prayer, the questions you are wrestling with, or simply a therapist who understands the role your faith plays in your life.

Christian counseling is one option within our practice. We also welcome clients of all faiths and those who do not identify with a faith tradition.

Faith Integration Is Your Choice

You want help that honors what you believe.

Plenty of people of faith put off therapy because they are unsure what they will find on the other side of the door. Will my faith be respected? Will I have to explain it? Will it be treated as part of the problem? Here is who tends to find us.

  • ✓ You want a therapist who understands the role your faith plays in your life without making you defend it
  • ✓ Your marriage is struggling and you want therapy that respects the importance of your vows and the commitment you have made
  • ✓ You tried therapy before and felt your beliefs were tolerated at best
  • ✓ Your faith feels thin lately, and you are unsure where to take that
  • ✓ You carry questions, doubt, or a wound from a church, and you want a safe place to look at it
  • ✓ You are a pastor, ministry leader, or helping professional who holds everyone else together and needs a place of your own

If any of this sounds like you, you are in good company. These are the people our faith-integrated therapists see every week, and this page is for you.

Evidence-based clinical care, with your faith welcome in it.

Christian counseling here is licensed clinical therapy with faith integrated in the way that feels right for you. What changes is who is in the room with you and what they are willing to talk about.

1

Licensed clinical care

Our faith-integrated therapists are licensed clinicians or licensed associates under supervision and use evidence-based approaches offered throughout our practice, including Emotionally Focused Therapy. Faith is integrated into the work when you want it there.

2

Your faith, at your pace

You decide how much of your faith comes into the conversation and when. Some clients want it woven through every session. Others want a therapist who understands and respects their values. Both are welcome, and you can change your mind.

3

Scripture and prayer when you want them

Prayer, scripture, and reflection on your beliefs can be part of therapy when you want them to be. Your therapist will follow your lead on how explicitly faith is included.

4

Room for the hard questions

Doubt, disappointment with God, hurt from a church or a leader, a faith that has changed shape. Our therapists are comfortable making room for those questions without pushing you toward a particular conclusion.

Good therapy and real faith belong in the same room.

We are a couples practice at heart, and our couples work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an approach built on attachment science and decades of research. For Christian couples who understand marriage as a covenant, EFT can fit naturally with the desire to build a secure, responsive bond with one another.

For individuals, the same attachment lens helps make sense of anxiety, grief, old wounds, and the way you relate to God and to the people closest to you. Several of our therapists also bring particular experience with ministry leaders, military families, and people working through a change in their faith. Whatever brought you here, you will have a licensed clinician who takes both your struggle and your beliefs seriously.

What people ask before they book.

Do you pray or read scripture in sessions?
When you want us to. Some clients open or close sessions with prayer, bring scripture into the conversation, or want to think through a struggle in light of their faith. Others simply want a therapist who understands and respects their values without explicitly bringing faith into every session. You set the level, and you can change it at any time.
Is Christian counseling different from regular therapy?
The clinical foundation is the same. Our faith-integrated therapists are licensed clinicians or licensed associates trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and other evidence-based approaches. The difference is that your faith can be included as part of the conversation when it is meaningful to you.
Are your Christian counselors licensed therapists?
Yes. Every clinician on this page is licensed in Texas or practicing as a licensed associate under clinical supervision, with graduate training in counseling or marriage and family therapy. Faith integration is something they offer in addition to that training, never in place of it.
Do you offer Christian marriage counseling?
Yes. Couples therapy is at the heart of our practice, and several of our therapists offer Christian faith-integrated couples counseling. Our couples work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and for clients who understand marriage as a covenant, faith can be thoughtfully integrated into that work. We also offer faith-integrated premarital counseling and affair recovery.
What if my spouse does not share my faith?
That is something we can work with. Your therapist can honor your faith without imposing it on your partner, while keeping the focus on the relationship and the concerns that brought you both to therapy. Your therapist will make room for both partners' beliefs and values without asking either person to adopt the other's perspective.
I am of another faith, or no faith. Will I be comfortable here?
Yes. Christian counseling is an option we offer, not a requirement. The Love Seat welcomes clients of all faiths and those who do not identify with a faith tradition, and your beliefs come into the room only as much as you want them to. If you would rather see a therapist without a faith focus, our matching quiz or intake coordinator will help you find one.
Do you work with pastors, ministry leaders, and their families?
Yes. Several of our therapists have particular experience with clergy, ministry staff, and helping professionals who carry a great deal and have few safe places to set it down. They understand the pressures that can come with ministry leadership, caregiving roles, and being the person others depend on. What you share in therapy is treated as confidential, with the limited exceptions required by law and professional ethics.
Do you accept insurance for Christian counseling?
The Love Seat is a private-pay practice. We can provide superbills for clients who wish to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement, and you will receive a Good Faith Estimate before your first session. Insurance reimbursement varies by plan.
