You’re the one everyone else leans on, and somewhere along the way you stopped having a safe place to set that weight down. Or you and your partner are stepping into marriage, into a blended family, into something new, and you want to start strong instead of crossing your fingers. Or a betrayal, a deployment, or a hard season has cracked what used to feel solid, and you’re ready to do the real work of rebuilding it. I walk alongside individuals, couples, and families ready for something healthier.
All relationships take work, but the work doesn’t have to feel hard. Using systemic theories and approaches, I help clients trace their struggles back to the root, build healthier ways to communicate, and shift the patterns and perspectives that keep getting in the way. Together, we get curious about what’s driving the disconnection and find new ways to move toward each other.
I Work Especially Well With:
- Helpers, leaders, and fellow therapists who carry everyone else’s weight and have nowhere to set it down
- Couples preparing for marriage, navigating engagement, or blending families
- Partners working through infidelity, separation, or rebuilding after divorce and remarriage
- Military service members, Veterans, and the families holding it all together at home
- Clients looking to integrate Christian faith into their counseling work
I’m especially passionate about supporting the helpers, leaders, and “strong ones” who hesitate to ask for help themselves. My goal is to create a space where you can be open and honest about what’s heavy, and where you walk out with real tools for healing. Accountability, vulnerability, and compromise may not be new ideas to you, and what changes is how you hold them and how you put them to work in becoming the best version of yourself.
My clinical approach is grounded in systemic family therapy and emotionally focused work, with continuing advanced training in EFT. I’m also certified in SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) and as a Prepare/Enrich facilitator and trainer, which means premarital and early-marriage couples get research-backed assessments built right into our sessions.
Reaching out for help takes courage, and I deeply respect that. My hope is that our work together helps you reconnect with yourself, strengthen the relationships that matter most, and move toward the life and partnership you want.
Your First Session with CheVaughn
Walking into therapy for the first time can feel like a lot, so I keep the first session low-pressure and focused on you. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’ve already tried, and what you’re hoping life or your relationship could look like on the other side of this work. You don’t need to have it all figured out before we start. By the end of our time together, you’ll have a clearer picture of how I work, what a typical session looks like, and whether I’m the right fit for what you’re carrying. From there, we set the pace together.
